This Fall, Dr. Karen Hogan and I have started to teach a new class: FNAR/IPD 268/568 Biological Design. We are keeping a documentation of the course materials at biologicaldesign.info.
Residency at FLinT
I am very pleased to be selected for the residency at the Center for Fundamental Living Technology (FLinT) at University of Southern Denmark. I will be working with Steen Rasmussen and other researchers to explore the societal ramifications and cultural aspects of bottom-up Synthetic Biology. The full announcement is here.
Emancipati Ensemble in Athens
Emancipat Ensemble will be on display April 29-July 5 as part of the Adhocracy Athens exhibition at the Onassis Culture Center. This will be the fourth showing of the Adhocracy exhibition after Istanbul, New York, and London. Emancipati has evolved from a reader designed for the 1st Istanbul Design Biennial to an ensemble showcased at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. Thanks to Pelin Tan, Joseph Grima, and Ethel Baraona Pohl for initiating Adhocracy and their continuous support to Emancipati.
Future of Biological Design
I was part of the Synthetic Biology: Learn, Do, and Dream panel at SXSW with Joy Ito (MIT Media Lab), Rob Carlson (Bioeconomy Capital), and Connor Dickie (Synbiota). Special thanks to Connor for inviting me to the conversation.
CULTURUNNERS @ ARMORY
I will be participating at the CULTURUNNERS @ ARMORY show curated by Azra Aksamija (MIT). The exhibition is organized by Art Jameel and Edge of Arabia, the educational partner and the lead cultural partner of the Armory Show 2015 Focus: Middle East, North Africa and the Mediterranean (MENAM).
